If Waves Were Jewels – Surfing Fiji

If you happen to love pretty things (and who doesn’t?) the water in this video will mesmerize you. It’s clear, with the unmistakeable look of something unspoiled, and the waves rolling over the top will make you wish you weren’t locked in your little room with a jacket on.

While yes, this is a surfing video, it’s not just any surfing video. Many of them are filmed from water level, from the sea or the beach, but this brings you off the surface to a vantage point that allows you to see the coral underneath and what may in fact represent real danger, getting flayed across it like so much fresh meat. But still, it’s almost as if the surfers aren’t surfing on water at all, but thin a layer of some kind of liquid emerald.

The South Pacific has a beauty like no other island region and this video makes you want to be there. These aren’t the gnarly tubes that other surfing videos like show off. These waves are sunkissed and crystalline. And they make you want to ride them, bra. Just once.
